Our trip from Montague Harbour to Ganges Harbour only took a
few hours. We went to the Saturday
market where Mae met Raffi. Mae was very
excited to meet the famous childrens’ singer.
He is a very strong supporter of teachers and has made many public
statements and written articles supporting teachers.
The Saturday Market was very busy especially during the
summer and fall. The creativity and
talent of people are amazing. There was
jewelry, pottery, clothes, lots of food, summer/fall harvest (all organic),
candles, leather, painting and much, much more.
All throughout Salt Spring, there were galleries after
galleries of artwork from paintings, pottery, wood work, metal work and much
more. Salt Spring is amongst the top 100
places with the most galleries.
Ahhhh! Where is our
dinghy? We must have arrived at one of
the busiest times as it was weekend of the Fall Fair. The Rotary Dinghy dock was packed with
boats. We had to climb over other
dinghies to stretch out our rope to tie up.
We tried looking for a pub with a dart board but it seems
its become a rare game to play at pubs.
We met Veronika, a bar tender at one of the local pubs. She is from Czechoslovakia and she learned to
speak English in two months. All her
teachers are patrons that visit the pub.
She met the owner in her hometown in Czechoslovakia and he offered her a
job at the pub. So, she came and has been loving the town and people so
much. She feels so blessed to have the
opportunity be in our country.
