September 11 Retreat Cove (Galiano Island) Hanging Out with Susan & Hugh

There was no wind to go sailing so we went fishing with Susan and Hugh and dropped the crab traps.  No fish or crabs but it was a lovely hot day.  We enjoyed a freshly made seafood chowder,  (lingcod inspired) by Mae.

Yummy chowder!

All that hard work resulted in one tiny crab that said “Phew!” as it went back into the ocean.
Hugh and Susan have worked tremendously hard in clearing a large plot across from their property.   This area is a “common” area for neighbours who may like to garden themselves.   Susan and Hugh have a small garden with room for more beds.

They’ve been enjoying the fruits of their labor and we especially enjoyed the fresh tomatoes, zucchini, and acorn squash.

After a tough morning being out on the water, followed by some gardening and Mae picking blackberries, we sat down in Susan and Hugh’s wonderful home for a delicious roast lamb with lots of garden treats.

Once again, the evening finished off with a beautiful sunset, ice cream with blackberries, scotch and wine.
