August 28 to Sept 2 Nanaimo ~ Hanging Out & Moving Jennifer, Visiting & Exploring

When we arrived in Nanaimo Harbour, we called Jennifer and she met Mae at the Nanaimo Harbour docks to be picked up.   Mae and Jennifer jumped off the boat for an afternoon swim.

We tied up onto one of the 40 new mooring bouys in Mark Bay on Newcastle Island for six nights.  For $12 per night, we did not have to worry about our boat dragging away during some of the strong afternoon winds.

Jennifer opened the door to her new apartment.  We helped Jennifer pack, move and unpack for several days.

Sugar came along for the dinghy ride to greet Jennifer.

This is what our self inflating lifejacket looked like when it inflated.  We left our lifejackets in our dinghy.  When Mae stepped into the dinghy, the water in the dinghy went into contact with the lifejacket and poof!  Yip, we know that the self inflating aspect of the jacket works.

When we arrived in Nanaimo Harbour, Marty quickly recognized a sailboat that was in Prince Rupert several years ago.  We got reacquainted with Ralph & Ruth on SV Deo Volente from Smithers.  They’ve lived on board their boat for many decades.  Ralph designed and custom made their sailboat.  Deo Volente is a unique three masted boat.  The length of their boat was the result of the mathematical proportion that would allow them to have standing room for their height.

Sugar had a new experience of going on a car ride.  We rented a vechicle to help Jennifer move to her new place.

Vicky, (Jennifer’s Anutie, Marty’s sister,) along with her son, Ben, kindly came to Nanaimo on Saturday, August 30, with their truck, to help Jennifer move the big furniture.

To keep your movers happy, serve them beer and pizza.

Thank you so much Vicky and Ben.

Good bye to Jennifer’s first bachlor’s suit.

Comforts of moving in, a new vacuum and fresh herbs on the balcony.

Early morning bathroom breaks for Rose on Newcastle Island.  Sugar came for a cozy ride in Mae’s jacket.

When traveling back and forth from Nanaimo and our mooring can at Newcastle Island, we have to keep a watchful eye for the numerous floatplanes landing and taking off.

To celebrate a successful move, we went for dinner at the Dinghy Dock Pub.
