After spending a night tied to the main docks at Shearwater, we spent much of August 8th provisioning our boat with fresh fruits (a few apples) and vegetables. Our last provisioning was on July 28 in Prince Rupert. Hey Jasper! Notice your winter berry jam up front? We can’t wait to use it. We also had lovely loonie showers and completed a big load of laundry.
On August 9, we spent the day doing boat clean-up as we are now docked on a floating dock attached to the breakwater at Shearwater. Marty got the foredeck nicely polished. Mae spent time reorganizing things down below (so Marty cannot find anything. Mae likes to hide things on poor Marty). For the afternoon, we enjoyed some R & R.
August 10th: When we were not hanging on the hammock, we sat around enjoying some cold drinks with other sailors. One guy named Gary came back later from his boat (after checking his logbook) to tell us that we had met at the pub a year ago in Shearwater. Sure enough, we looked in our logbook and found his name, too. The boating world is a small one as, Gary knew some people that we got acquainted with during our travels over the years along the coast. When we meet new people, we always exchange contact information.
Sugar and Rose love wandering around the docks. Rose particularly liked watching all the boats go by while Sugar enjoyed exploring other people’s boats and walking along the logs, eating grass and chasing bugs.
To finish off the day, we had tasty salmon burgers with freshly made buns by Marty.
To cap off the night, we enjoyed watching the “Super Moon” rising as it shimmered on the water.
