On July 23, we got up very early to make our way to Gibsons. Although, we told Edward that he did not need to get up, he was awake anyhow as the engine and the movement on the water kept him slightly awake. The engine went on at 5:15 a.m. but we did not set sail as quickly as the past few days. Some wind started to come up and we set sail at 8:45 a.m.
During the morning, Mae made a few calls to Al (her sister’s hubbie). He could spot us from their house. By 12:15 pm, we had to start engine so we could round Keats Island to get to Gibsons.
This was a perfect weekend to visit Gibsons as they were having their 42nd Annual Sea Cavalcade. This event is like Prince Rupert’s Seafest. They actually had sea, land and air activities as well as performances. We got a great spot at Gibsons Landing Marina thanks to the Blattler’s friend Paul, who made a reservation for us. We had a great spot for the evening fireworks. The scariest part of the evening was the HUGE EXPLOSION in the harbour. When a set of five 1940's vintage L-17 "Navion" aircraft flew over the fireworks barge, sounds of 100’s of firecrackers went off (which was strange) followed by a HUGE EXPLOSION, a ball of fire and black smoke.

For the rest of the story, you will have to wait until we return to Prince Rupert. Yikes!
Andy, Al and his brother came over to our boat for the real fireworks which were impressive. The fireworks looked cool through the masts of the many sailboats. After the fireworks, we visited Paul and his friends at his boat.
