July 20 Nanaimo to Lasqueti

On July 20, we left Nanaimo at 8:00 a.m. and after refueling, we were sailing out of the harbour by 8:35 a.m. We were visited by Pacific White-sided Dolphins twice during our travels this day. The first set spotted us and darted quickly over. They swam circles around us and rode the bow wake. We could watch them fall back and dart ahead for us. They were sure fast. In the afternoon, around 1300 hours, the second set of dolphins were even more impressive as there were over 50 of them.
They were swimming all around us. It seemed that they were playing and feeding. They jumped and dove all around.
On our way to Lasqueti Island which is east of Denman and Hornby Islands, we saw someone catch a fish. Immediately, Marty and Mae said, “Let’s Fish!” Within an hour, we caught a beautiful green lingcod. The fish was absolutely tasty with our versatile coating mix.
